Introduction to Systems Thinking for Sustainable Transition

About This Course

In this session, we introduce systems thinking and its practical application to sustainable transitions within the built environment. We explore the concept of systems thinking, its potential contributions, and ways it can be applied in professional practice, with illustrative examples from various areas of urban development. Participants will engage with research from the School of Architecture and the Built Environment at KTH, covering topics such as transport, housing, water management, public safety, the role of civil society, and the analysis of spatial patterns to support decision-making. Presentations are delivered in both Swedish and English, with the introduction and conclusion in Swedish. The seminar aims to provide actionable insights for integrating systems perspectives into sustainable planning and development.

Introduktion Systemtänkande för hållbar omställning

Idag introducerar vi systemtänkande och dess praktiska tillämpning för hållbara omställningar inom samhällsbyggnadsområdet. Vi utforskar begreppet systemtänkande, dess möjliga bidrag och sätt att tillämpa det i professionell praktik, med illustrativa exempel från olika delar av samhällsbyggandet. Deltagarna kommer att ta del av forskning från Skolan för arkitektur och samhällsbyggnad vid KTH, med teman som transporter, bostäder, vattenförvaltning, trygghet, civilsamhällets roll samt analys av rumsliga mönster som stöd för beslutsfattande. Presentationerna ges på både svenska och engelska, medan inledning och avslutning hålls på svenska. Seminariet syftar till att ge konkreta insikter för hur systemperspektiv kan integreras i hållbar planering och utveckling.
